Joining the guys will be actor-comedian Eugene Mirman, whom I seen live and recommend to see live and wrote a book that I'd like to read and has great CD's out and was great in the elevator on HBO's Flight of the Conchords but really I want him to bring the Marvelous Crooning Child to the stage, Poez the Poet, a spoken-word artist/street performer whose legacy harkens back to the gritty NY artscene in the 70s-80s with the likes of William Burroughs, Richard Hell, Suzanne Vega and Andy (yup, Andy), and Franklin Bruno, a musician and music critic and former Mountain Goat so Ken can finally ask those questions he was too drunk to ask John Darnielle.

Oh, and also...

"Mommy, why does my sandwich taste funny??"

He better not wuss out on us; all I'll say...

There may be a one minute soaking of Andy. Anyone pledging during that minute will have the amount of their pledge matched by Andy (or Ken, if they want to soak Ken, although I can’t imagine why anybody would want to do THAT, and this is Andy writing this, I swear.)

After the soaking:

For every $500 raised, we will give out one digit of Andy’s cel phone number. If we give out his entire 10-digit number (raising 5 grand), we will then move on to determining what takes place on stage at the next Seven Second Delay on March 24th, from the UCB Theater in NYC.

If we hit $6000: Andy will don Peanut Butter Underwear on stage at the UCB Theater
If we hit $7000: Andy will be crucified on stage
If we hit $8000: Andy will get an embarrassing tattoo on stage – minimum size of tattoo is 4 square inches
If we hit $9000: Andy will get his very hairy back waxed

Ken and Andy will be taking phone calls tonight during their live show at the UCB Theater. To ask comedy writer Julie Klausner a question, just dial 201-200-9368 after 6pm and tell our board operator your question. That question will then be passed on to Andy's daughter, Julie, who will be standing outside of the theater on her cell phone so she'll have reception, then your question will be passed on to a long line of audience members who will act as human telephones, and then to our guest, Julie Klausner. So it better be a good question!

Seven Second Delay returns to the Upright Citizen's Brigade Comedy Theater in Manhattan, Wednesday night February 17th from 6-7pm for another live radio broadcast.

Joining Ken and Andy will be comedy writer/performer Julie Klausner, author Peter Kling on how WFMU listeners can best prepare for Armageddon, Cool Voiceover guy Xavier Paul, Bronx Culinary Legend Baron Ambrosia and The Main Squeeze Orchestra, the western world's only all-female, all-accordian orchestra.

The UCB Theater is located at 307 West 26th Street in Manhattan (map), near the corner of 8th Avenue. Admission is $5, but Andy is made of money, so you can get a full refund simply by bumping into him on the way out.

Gary Cole to Star in Andy's New Pilot

From TVsquad.com we learn that the evil boss "Lumbergh" from "Office Space" will be the star of Andy's new pilot.

Cole is a really underrated actor. He just seems to bop along over the decades in role after role, but if you look at what he's done it's been pretty fantastic, from his role in the NBC drama 'Midnight Caller' (which I think was a little ahead of its time and would fit in nicely today) to a terrific Robert Reed impression in the 'Brady Bunch' movies to his classic role in 'Office Space' and 'The West Wing'. After all the trouble drunk Ken and half-naked Andy caused at last month's show, the UCB Theater is letting us return for another live broadcast. Instead of booking fancy authors and celebrities you've heard of, we decided to take the easy road and just post an ad on Craigslist. The results are terrifying - to Andy especially - and the bouquet of talents we've selected will make one freaking weird hour of radio.

That'll all be happening at the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater in Manhattan on Wednesday, January 20th from 6-7pm. The UCB Theater is located at 307 West 26th Street [google map] in Manhattan, near the corner of 8th Avenue. Admission is $5, but if you save your receipt, it might make a nice tissue later.

Listener Mail: An Andy Breckman Christmas Story

Here's one of those stories about how our Andy-sampled zingers lead to trouble and hilarity. From Listener B. (@halfassbuddhist on Twitter), who notes that he has changed all the names in this story.

My girlfriend’s friend Dee had a small dinner party on Christmas eve. There were eight people there, of those eight, I only knew my girlfriend Claudia and her friend Dee.

As dinner was winding down, the conversation turned to a Liza Minnelli concert we had attended earlier in the year, and why on earth we went. (Because it was a friend’s birthday – and it was a hoot). People started asking why she was famous, and I pointed out that her Dad was a successful Italian film director who went on to have a big Hollywood career, and her mom was Judy freakin’ Garland! My girlfriend Claudia said, “that’s what everyone says about Liza Minnelli – she came out of Judy Garland’s twat!”

At that point, I looked at the person sitting on my left and said, “Hey, that brings up an interesting question – were you vaginally delivered or caesarean?”

Eve, Dee’s cousin, said she didn’t remember (best answer). Dee’s 81 year old mother said vaginally. Frank, a working actor who had been tossing off zingers all night said, “Caesarean, and I wasn’t breast fed, either,” which got a few “that explains a lot…” reactions. The question went around the table until it ended with Gail, an older, overweight, gray-haired lady who said softly, “Vaginally – and I don’t think this is appropriate table conversation.”

She said this not looking at me, but across the table at Frank, the wiseacre. “I’d expect something like this out of you,” she said while glaring at Frank and refusing to look at me, two seats to her left.

Up to that point it had been a pretty loud and raucous party, but things went flat like someone had let the air out of a balloon. I just sat there thinking about what to do. Since an Andy Breckman gag had got me into this, I decided the thing to do would be to wait until we were leaving, and shake this lady’s hand and tell her to go to hell, but I wanted to keep it one on one, not in front of everyone. I was screwing up my courage for this (it’s not everyday I tell someone to go to hell) when Gail, the lady who put a damper on the evening, got up and said she was tired and it was time to go. No one else got up to say goodbye and I was trapped in my seat – I never got a chance to tell her to go to hell!

As soon as she left, I started to complain that I didn’t get my chance to tell her to go to hell, and Frank said, “wait, did she really bother you? That’s Gail, she doesn’t like any of us, especially me and your girlfriend. I’m not sure why Dee even invited her.” My girlfriend said, “I told you about her. Dee used to work in her shop. Frank’s right, she hates all of us – she’s the one that used to be married to Don McLean.”

Frank (and a few others) asked, “Don McLean? Who’s that?” but I screamed, “Oh my god! That was an Andy Breckman bit. I’d love to take credit for it, but that whole vaginal vs. caesarean thing is an Andy Breckman bit."

At that point, the question changed from 'Who’s Don McLean?' to 'Who’s Andy Breckman?'

Meet Uncle Nigel

Our unemployed host Andy has a new project in the works. Variety tells us:

"Uncle Nigel" is a one-hour mystery comedy that centers on Philadelphia police detective Nigel Wells. Straitlaced and by-the-book, Wells winds up clashing with his nephew Ronnie, who's also on the force but less accomplished and more prone to screwing things up.

Breckman wrote the pilot -- which has a cast-contingent order from TBS -- as a spec script during his time on "Monk," and eventually took it out to the nets as "Monk" completed its series run.

"I feel like I went to TV school for eight years on 'Monk,' learning the business, and I didn't want to put that education to waste," Breckman said. "I developed this new show that's similar in tone, but the setup is very different."

I'm sure excited! By the way... who caught Andy's cameo at the end of the last episode of Monk? He's the guy being handcuffed.
